Unfortunately, Ehzoterik has been given a 1 week involuntary vacation for having difficulty with our Moderation Guide and Community Guidelines, namely:

Quote
This wiki operates on the principles of Community Authorship and Group Authorship. Do not sign articles or add disclaimers in an attempt to assert editorial control or otherwise prevent other users from editing an article. The first four paragraphs of Wikipedia's article on Ownership of articles are useful in understanding this guideline.

You may not deem Rhydin Wiki articles you have started or contributed to as “protected” from editing without your approval. This Wiki is not a place for anyone's “personal” work to remain pristine without the possibility of being altered, changed, deleted, or completely rewritten by consensus.

If you don't want your material to be edited mercilessly or redistributed by others, do not submit it.

Quote
Users who can't express themselves without resorting to snark, sarcasm, whinging, or other uncivil behavior may receiving an involuntary vacation."

These are not complicated or unusual concepts as far as wikis go.

To those who've expressed their concerns that people who operate other Rhydin-related websites aren't going to be held to the same guidelines as everyone else -- well, obviously they are. Sad

I'm going to say this again, hopefully for the last time: If you don't want your writing to be edited mercilessly and redistributed at will, then don't submit it here.   If you want to showcase your original work in an environment where it will never be altered by anyone but you and where you can be assured that the world knows it is your intellectual property alone, host it on your own personal website.

Please take the time read the Community Guidelines, Moderation Guide, Style Guide, and What Rhydin Wiki Is Not.  If you can't take the time to read the guidelines for this site,  if you feel those guidelines are ridiculous and can't agree to abide by them, the solution is simple.  Do not use this site.  If you think you can do better, go work your own.

Ehzoterik has regrettably received a vacation from the site for an indefinite duration.  I have invited him/her to use this time away from the site to continue a dialogue with me via e-mail if he/she would like to use the site again.  When Ehzoterik displays an understanding of how his/her writing comes across, and shows he/she can communicate more carefully and thoughtfully with the tone we would like from our users, he/she is welcome back.  I do believe that people can change.

While Ehzoterik has also publicly posted some rather unpleasant and apparently angry things about this site and its administration elsewhere, I want to stress that his/her comments elsewhere are not why this vacation was levied.  However, they are a factor in not welcoming Ehzoterik back at this point:   Please understand that while any user may express himself however he wishes at other sites, I am not going to encourage participation here from anyone engaging in recreational flaming of this site or blatant intimidation of members of the community.  I certainly am not going to permit them to be a Moderator here as Ehzoterik had asked to be.

The vacation is levied based on Ehzoterik's refusal to read or follow the Community Guidelines, Moderation Guidelines, and Style Guide, despite being asked to read, understand and follow those guidelines when he/she was given a vacation at the end of November for the same problems.   The amount of writing from Ehzoterik which I felt did not follow this site's guidelines is a pretty lengthy list, so I will not copy it here, but the details are available on request by PM or e-mail (to admin<at>rhydinwiki.com).

Due to the situation touched on in http://rhydinwiki.com/forum/index.php?topic=146.0, I'm necrobumping this thread with a list of the specific guidelines and policies that Ehzoterik had problems with.  The forum posts are numerous, but none of them have been edited or removed.  Anyone curious about the specific threads involved can just do a List All Posts By User to find them.  However, if there's a public request for the specific threads and responses and wiki entries posted here, I'll spam up the thread with them.

COMMUNITY GUIDELINES
*Users who can't express themselves without resorting to snark, sarcasm, whinging, or other uncivil behavior may receiving an involuntary vacation.
*Suggestions for improvement in all areas are encouraged, but keep it courteous and constructive.

MODERATION GUIDE
*If you don't want your material to be edited mercilessly or redistributed by others, do not submit it.
*If you would like to change or delete what someone else has written in an article, discuss it first. Keep your discussions civil and calm, and work together in the spirit of cooperation to try to come to a consensus.
*If you would like to correct grammatical errors... Edit only if you are very sure that your change is itself correct and doesn’t significantly alter the original meaning. If there’s any doubt, discuss it on the Wiki Talk board first.

STYLE GUIDE
*All articles need to be clearly relevant to Rhydin. If an article does not mention how a place, person, or concept relates to Rhydin or roleplaying in Rhydin, it will need to be refocused.
*Make omissions explicit. If you are unable to cover a point that should be explained (for instance, if you have not done the research), make it known by leaving HTML comments within the article and by adding a Note at the bottom.
*Research first!
*Avoid using "peacock terms" and "weasel words."

WHAT RHYDIN WIKI IS NOT
*Rhydin Wiki is not a general dictionary.
*Rhydin Wiki is not your personal web page.
*Rhydin Wiki is not a respository for creative writing.
*Rhydin Wiki is not a place to establish "canon" or define how people should play in Rhydin.
*Rhydin Wiki is not a Multiverse Wiki. It is not an all-encompassing Free Form Roleplay Wiki. It is not a general Fantasy RP Wiki, either.
*Also, do not create or modify articles just to prove a point.
*The rules apply to every member of this community, and flailing against authority will not change that. We’re going to laugh if you have a ‘you’re-not-the-boss-of-me’ fit in response to a moderator or administrator doing his or her job.

Ehzoterik has sent me an email demanding that I consider her words "a public request for the specific threads and responses."  As she is incapable of publicly posting here owing to her involuntary vacation from the site, and as private discourse on this will serve no one, I've copied the email below:

Quote
Subject:
About: Rhydin Wiki
From: Ehzoterik@aol.com

To: eve@rhilshen.com

Dear Eve,

I'm writing to you personally, because I feel that you're more likely to be personable than the alternate administrator.  In the past, I have tried communicating with this unnamed individual and only received canned responses that explained nothing to me whatsoever.  In particular, six months ago, I specifically asked for a precise explanation of the guidelines I allegedly "had problems with."

As I am still banned to this day, you may consider this "a public request for the specific threads and responses," as well as, which I requested six months ago, a precise explanation of how, in these exact threads and responses, I violated the community guidelines.

Additionally, I was told that other members had apparently submitted complaints against me.  I asked, six months ago, only to be told what those complaints were.  If I am unaware of my faults, I cannot exactly improve myself and fix them, now can I?  I do not see how this is such a difficult request to fulfill.  I am not asking for names.

Now listen.  I can see that you can clearly point out the what, but still no one has informed me of the how.  Six months have gone by.  I do not believe in empty apologies, meaning I will not apologize unless I know for certain, and it can be explicitly proven, that I was in the wrong.  In my current opinion, more than half of these accusations amount to misreading my intended tone and reading between the lines.  Tone in text is not as easy to decipher as tone in speech.  However, understand that my opinions can and do change, provided that a reasonable argument is presented that can sway me.

Since these issues, I am aware that the guidelines, style guide and moderation have all been edited in some ways.  Though it has been months since I last looked at them, I will admit.  Other, personally, more important matters have required my attention.  Though it should speak volumes, just by reading this e-mail, that I am willing to cooperate.  I have always been willing to cooperate, and frankly I find it a little offensive that, all these months later, you still insist on using me as a bad example, when, in my opinion, it all amounts to nothing more dramatic than simple miscommunication.

So please.  If you could, explain to me precisely how it is that I violated the specifically listed guidelines mentioned in this article, I would very much appreciate it.  Thank you.

Alright.  The specific threads, responses, and articles are copied below.  Those which are listed multiple times ran up against more than one guideline. Not listed are her RhydinWiki articles which have been deleted.

If I thought Ehzoterik was interested in anything other than another argument, I might be willing to communicate with her at length.  Since she is specifically interested in an argument from me to "sway" her, that's not going to happen.  I'll make this brief.

If Ehzoterik has reviewed her previous posts in conjunction with the foregong list of specific guidelines and policies she had problems with, and she still does not understand precisely how she violated them, there is nothing I can do to explain it to her.  The key problems here seem to involve Ehzoterik's inability to understand how the RhydinWiki Community Guidelines apply to her here. So far, no one else on this project has had difficulty understanding the guidelines, following our "buttload of restrictions," or expressing themselves without being proudly impolite and making fun of everyone.

Ehzoterik has made it abundantly and publicly clear that she does not agree with this project's ideals or rules, or its administrators.  I do not think those very public statements were simple miscommunications.  I am not as personable as other Rhydin-related site owners, so I'm done with this wank.

If there is an outpouring of love and support from the members of the RhydinWiki community asking for Ehzoterik's ban to be lifted, I will consider it. Otherwise, I remain dubious that she has reached an understanding of how her writing comes across and I am unconvinced that she can communicate as carefully and thoughtfully as the rest of this project's contributors.  I think it is time for Ehzoterik to move on.  There are other place where her contributions will be welcomed and where her unique way of expressing herself will not be censored.

Happy gaming.

Alternative, you can just do a search for all of Ehzoterik's previous posts.

(Edited to add link for last posts by user, since some folks couldn't figure it out. Cheesy)
